angela goldberg1 September 2026My husband and I had a wonderful experience working with the Pittsburgh Doula Network and could not recommend our doula, Tyler Bowe, enough. From our initial meet and greet interview through our labor and delivery journey, Tyler was communicative, informative, supportive, and understanding. She provided exactly the energy my husband and I needed as we welcomed our daughter into the world. My labor and delivery was very long and ultimately ended in an unplanned c-section. Tyler's presence made all the difference for us, helping us not only navigate everything, but also appreciate and celebrate an otherwise stressful experience. She was also incredible postpartum, helping us process our birth experience while also supporting us in my physical recovery and in actively figuring out life with a newborn. Those first nights back home from the hospital are exhausting and overwhelming, and Bre made everything easier and allowed us to rest, recover, and have enough energy for the next day. Bre knew exactly how to soothe and care for our newborn, and she taught us so much about how to do it on our own. She stayed calm no matter what and was extremely supportive of us as new parents. She was amazing, super reliable , loves your baby as much as you do, shows up on time and gives great tips since she's taken care of newborns for so long! Maggie Smith14 August 2026Kaiya and Tyler from the Pittsburgh Doula Network were such a huge part of our support system for the first 8 weeks of our son’s life. After having a really hard postpartum with our daughter, I knew that I needed more support (specifically when it came to sleep) this time around. Inviting a stranger into your home in the middle of the night to care for your newborn baby is not necessarily an easy thing to do, but Kaiya and Tyler made us feel so comfortable. They cared for my son like he was their own and also made sure that my needs were met while maintaining breastfeeding/supply. I will miss our 3am chats but am also happy to be moving towards more consolidated sleep😴 🥰Posted on Google

We were matched with Kaiya, who was literally incredible during our pregnancy and after through our postpartum visit. Having Kaiya to check in with and to learn from was an incredible reassurance and provided us so much knowledge! Kaiya took time to explain answers in details and never made us feel silly for any of the questions we asked. She was there for us through every step of the birth process and made us feel encouraged even when the process didn’t follow our perfect plan. From the very beginning, she gave me the confidence that I would have the support I needed during those precious first days with my baby, especially since we don't have family living near Pittsburgh. Her support became even more invaluable when my husband returned to work. From the first moment, they have been organized, responsive, and clearly know what they’re doing. They matched us with the right person, show up when they say they will, and made a hard stretch a lot easier. Bre is our doula and she is great with the baby. She knew what to do from day one, and she showed us how to do it ourselves. When the baby won’t settle, Bre settles her, then walks us through what she’s seeing so we can do it next time. She never makes us feel like we’re failing. She is steady. No rushing, no judgment. That is exactly what we need. The whole network operates like this. Her knowledge and capabilities are vast and we were held through every stage. Planning for the birth she skillfully matched our style and needs at every step. In labor her presence was always felt; giving us space or support as the energy shifted. During the birth she was aware and proactively at the birth persons side at all times. She was able to communicate with all of the support partners and keep them up to speed so everyone was held together. Most recently we have worked with Tyler for a month. She is very sweet and trustworthy. You can tell by speaking with her that she has a great motherly demeanor. We have also worked with Annika who similarly is so sweet and caring. It has given me peace at night leaving our little one in the hands of two women who are very personable and kind. Upon contacting Pittsburgh Doula they were so kind and helpful in helping us navigate the services they offered. My first experience was incredibly rough — I was exhausted and never got enough sleep. This time, I made the decision to hire Kelly as my postpartum doula, and it was truly a game changer. We worked with Kelly for eight weeks, a couple of nights a week, and it gave me such peace of mind knowing I could actually sleep and rest while my baby was in the most capable and caring hands. It is so hard to find someone you can truly trust with your newborn, and Kelly is exactly that person. She is warm, reliable, and completely trustworthy in every sense of the word. What made Kelly so special was not just how incredible she was with my baby, but how supportive she was for ME. She made me feel so good during what can be such a vulnerable and emotional time. Justine Vanella6 May 2026During my first L&D, I was left feeling like I was pressured into certain decisions and didn't like the experience. Around 34 weeks for my second pregnancy, I decided to explore getting a doula to avoid a repeat of my first experience. I spoke to a few doulas, and all seemed lovely. I ended up working with Kaiya - she has a calmness about her that I knew would be just what I needed during the craziness of birth. She helped me develop a birth plan, coached me through laboring at home, and most importantly, was a great calming and mediating force once we were in the hospital. Anytime a decision had to be made, she helped discuss the options with my husband and me and set good boundaries with the hospital staff to give us room to discuss and decide (when appropriate - t's hard to know what's an emergency or not when you're the one in labor!). I ended up with a c-section (mom and baby d-cells, it wasn't an easy birth) and afterward Kaiya helped me process the experience. She helped me understand the timeline, what happened, and why. Although I didn't get the exact birth I wanted, I am at peace with the experience thanks to Kaiya. I highly recommend getting a doula (and Kaiya specifically!), it was such a better experience this time around.Posted on Google

She is knowledgeable about the many different ways a successful labor and delivery can look and is willing to support you in your unique preferences and offer gentle guidance when things don’t go to plan. She worked tirelessly during my labor when I had to be induced at 41 weeks, providing both physical and mental support. She also guided and encouraged my husband so that he felt like a confident and capable participant in the labor process. She was excellent at communicating my needs to the hospital staff and reminding them of my preferences when I was focused on labor. Payton Lohr5 March 2026I’m a second time mom who didn’t want to repeat my first birthing experience. Pittsburgh Doula Network was a great resource for me. I was about 36 weeks when I contacted them and was set up with Candelaria very quickly. From our first meeting over zoom she was very warm and engaged and her experience really helped me picture what I wanted my second birth to be like. In our prenatal visits at my home we went through different birthing positions and breathing techniques that helped me feel equipped to take on labor. Knowing I had someone in my corner with experience who would be there to help me through and speak up for the things I wanted made all the difference. She also made me some awesome placenta art! From our first meeting, it was clear that she was bringing valuable knowledge, experience, and advocacy to us. She taught us a lot before we went to the hospital, gave invaluable assistance as I kept fine-tuning the birth plan, helped us to know what to expect once we got there, and then was a tireless advocate, supporter, and cheerleader once I went into labor. Candelaria was an amazing complement to the medical staff, and she added to their work in a way that helped to me understand what was happening, but most importantly, to keep me comfortable and motivated. The result was a focused and extremely happy and healthy birth! As first-time parents, we took a lot of classes and that helped a lot for theoretical knowledge, but in the actual moment, we would not have been as creative and resourceful as Candelaria was during my laboring. Sha'la Evans came recommended to us from dear friends and we'd seen her work with their daughter. The care she provided us during those early weeks was truly invaluable. She not only took wonderful care of our baby, but also taught us so much, empowering us with skills and reassurance. One time she identified an issue with our son and urged us to take him to our pediatrician who confirmed it could have become a much more severe issue had it not been addressed in a timely manner. As first-time parents, we were so anxious and overwhelmed, but Erika arrived as a strong, confident caregiver every night. She is focused, competent, and worked seamlessly with us to execute our baby's feeding and sleep plan. She also managed all of my wife's breast pump setup and cleaned the equipment and bottles as needed. At the end of the day, we felt the baby and us were really cared for. It's difficult to ask for more than that. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. p.s. PDN has also been great to work with on the administrative side. When they couldn't fulfill a contract due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed a refund, and Suzy was excellent in both finding us Erika and being reasonable regarding the financial issue.Posted on Google
Shelby Nordstrom19 September 2025I had a wonderful experience with my doula, Sydney. With my OBGYN being a team, it was so nice to have one consistent person to reach out to throughout my pregnancy. Sydney was very knowledgeable and helped me make informed decisions regarding my pregnancy and birth. With this being my first baby, being new to the area, and having little family support near by I was anxious about my birth. Sydney offered great support leading up to and on the day of my birth. She is such a sweet and kind soul. Very calming and encouraging during my birth. Also shout out to Sydney for living so close to Magee considering I arrived at the hospital at 9.5cm!! She was in the L&D room within 5 mins of my arrival. A real MVP for that! Unfortunately I will be moving out of the area before I have my next baby. Otherwise I would absolutely hire Sydney again. But I recommend getting a doula to anyone that is pregnant. For those specifically deciding who to choose, Sydney is definitely one of the good ones!Posted on Google

From our prenatal meetings, where she helped us plan and prepare, to the birth itself, she made me feel comfortable, motivated, and truly cared for. She advocated for us in the hospital, provided knowledge when we weren’t sure what decisions to make, and tag-teamed seamlessly with my husband so we always felt supported. She was attentive and informative in all our prenatal meetings, going over different positions and breathing techniques to get through a natural labor. But through the labor process is where Candelaria truly shines. She was such a calming and grounding force throughout my labor. She was there through every contraction in the hospital, suggesting different positions and techniques to get me through. And when I felt like I had enough, she gently pushed me to keep going. Mary and Lily were able to provide excellent in-home guidance and support during a challenging time for us. Mary's wealthy of knowledge was very helpful and appreciated when we had some concerns with latching/tongue ties. She checked in regularly, was convenient to schedule with and had excellent tips for us to put into practice. We're looking forward to her continued support during our feeding milestones over the next year. Krista is an incredible provider and resource for anyone looking for pregnancy and postpartum care; her services are comprehensive to meet almost any needs you may have and she delivers them with such professionalism and a touch of humor. I could tell from our initial meeting that she would be a great trusted advisor to partner with her wealth of experience and calming vibes. She greatly eased our preemie's transition home when I also needed to recover from surgery, making what was a difficult time that much easier. It was incredible to have hands-on help to learn many tips and tricks from her, to debrief on our birthing experience, as well as have her help with feeding mechanics and reading their cues as we adjusted to our new home life. I finally was able to get some much needed rest and recovery at night knowing our little one was in the absolute best hands. Krista is an excellent communicator, stayed in touch with us throughout our pregnancy and almost daily during our NICU stay - even offering suggestions and support from afar - and continues to check in with us after our time together has concluded. We all - our cats included - miss her and are eternally grateful for her assistance getting us situated as a family of 3. We looked into post partum doula services relatively last minute before the birth of our daughter but Suzy quickly connected us with doulas who were professional, trustworthy and kind. It was a huge plus that they were all familiar with Carrot (the benefit provider through the employer) as it has specific requirements. The only negative was that we wanted 5 instead of the 4 nights of services we received due to scheduling conflicts but it ended up working out. Overall, the process was seamless and the doulas helped us tremendously as we entered parenthood. We HIGHLY recommend PDN and look forward to working with them again in the future!Posted on Google

Ian Danforth28 April 2025We had Krista both for the birth and as a postpartum doula. She was amazing and a joy to work with. Krista helped my wife throughout her pregnancy. They met four times to share information and resources related to childbirth and provide different options and discuss possible complications. While it was clear Krista had an opinion on what was best, she never pressured my wife one way or the other in developing her birth plan and helped her to refine and finalize it. Krista was always available and responsive to answer my wife's questions. Each meeting, Krista was punctual (which is very important to us). From my wife: Krista came when I asked her to come and stayed through the birth and golden hour after delivery, helping me with my very first breastfeeding. The most memorable part was that she brought some items to help make the ambience of the hospital room more calming, like putting up some affirmations and soft string lights. She also massaged me and had props to assist during labor. Before and after the epidural, she helped ensure I kept moving and stayed hydrated, nourished and as relaxed as possible. She took pictures of the birth and shared them with me afterwards, some of which are very powerful and moving and I will cherish them forever. As a postpartum doula Krista stayed overnight the first two nights we were home from the hospital and taught me, as a first time mom, how to comfort, clean and generally care for my new baby. She helped me trim his nails, give him a sponge bath, showed me some techniques for alleviating his gas, and more. We tried new breastfeeding positions together and talked about different ways I could try to address some of my breastfeeding challenges. When I had specific questions or tasks I wanted her help with, she did them all efficiently and thoroughly (e.g. washing dishes, folding laundry, light cooking, organizing, etc.). Importantly, she took care of my baby the way I wanted her to, with gentle suggestions but never forcing me or going against my wishes after I communicated them to her. --- As for me she gave me the gift of sleep which, in turn, gave me the ability to support my wife through the trials of the non-stop cycle of feedings required to care for our new child. We would highly recommend Krista to anyone working with the Pittsburgh Doula network, you won't be disappointed.Posted on Google

She offered multiple prenatal visits where we further discussed labor, delivery, breastfeeding, etc. She was super attentive and checked in with me frequently leading up to my due date. Once in labor she stayed with me for 20+ hours at the hospital, set up my room with affirmation cards and fairy lights and made me feel very safe. She helped apply counter pressure when I needed it and helped guide me during tough decisions I had to make. Even though my birth ended up not going exactly as planned, Krista made me feel safe and supported. J Good9 January 2025Such a great service! My insurance was able to cover having an in-home lactation consultant, which was huge! Other companies were far away and expected me to drive to them, which would be hard as a first time, freshly postpartum mom. Suzy was super helpful, communicated with me frequently (and continues to do so!), and she didn’t agreed with the pediatrician while giving insight and tips on my wellbeing as well as my baby’s. She is also super nice! While my breastfeeding journey doesn’t look like I hoped it would based on my production, I had confirmation, support, and ideas given to me as I went along making choices. Iza took great care of our boys and they were all smiles when they saw her. Not only did she take care of them but my husband and I felt cared for as well. The guaranteed two nights of sleep was such a blessing. She helped around the house by folding our laundry, helping with cleaning pump parts, and dishes. With three older children (6yo, 4yo, 2yo) and the recent addition of newborn triplets, caring for our family has been a round-the-clock operation requiring the full attention of my wife and me and many helpers. Shortly after all three triplets were discharged from the NICU, my wife and I hired Yohanna as an overnight postpartum doula. Being her first time working with our family and first time caring for triplets, we were amazed how quickly she was able to step into our situation and run with our routine with virtually no help from us. It has been a pleasure to work with her and get to know her. She is a very sweet person, attentive and affectionate with our children, and highly qualified with her background in pediatric medicine. In the last two months, she has become a valued member of our family. We feel very blessed to have found her. Jen provided both day and overnight care for our newborn after coming home from a stay in the NICU. My husband initially thought a postpartum night Doula was not worth it, but it only took about a week after my daughter was born for him to quickly change his mind and beg me to find someone. I was so worried we wouldn’t be able to find someone last minute, but Suzy paired us with Becca. Becca was amazing. She has a superhuman ability to be incredibly quiet and we never heard her throughout the night. She was careful with our daughter and gave me peace of mind about having a stranger in the house, especially during cold and flu season. She helped us immensely as we navigated being new parents since neither of our parents were close by. We constantly would have questions and we both say “we will ask Becca.” We will miss her tremendously now that our daughter is sleeping long enough that we can manage on our own. Hiring a postpartum Doula is definitely a privilege, but if it is in your budget, it is very worth pennypinching elsewhere to be able to swing this service. Shanyn has worked with our family for the past few months and her support has been invaluable. She not only cared for our son a few nights a week. She did hands on coaching with us to show us how to care for him during the day and night to improve his sleep. She brought us sample swaddles to try and see what worked best. By the time our son was 3 months, he could sleep in longer stretches at night, only waking once or twice to feed. We also worked with doulas Candelaria and Becca when Shanyn could not make it, and they have been amazing night doulas for our son.
