BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA

Hello! My name is Kenix and I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula through the Masters of Maternity Doula program. I’m currently in nursing school and after graduation, I hope to train as a midwife. I’ve served moms in home births and hospital births, and have experience in vaginal and C-section deliveries. While birth plans may change, my commitment to providing unwavering love and support to you and your family remains constant.

My passion for birth was sparked by the profound transition from womanhood to motherhood. I am dedicated to improving women’s health and birthing experiences, particularly among underserved, immigrant populations and women of color. As your advocate, I aim to provide the support you need, whether it’s filling a gap or enhancing the support you already have. I believe that childbirth is a challenging journey that can benefit from an extra dose of love and assistance.

My interest in postpartum care was driven by the prevalence of postpartum depression. The challenges include sleep deprivation, a newborn’s constant crying, a lack of support due to partners returning to work early or being a single parent, and at times, feeling unloved as all attention shifts to the newborn. I aspire to transform the postpartum experience for all women. Postpartum care should encompass both the baby and the mother. The new role of motherhood is a journey of adjustment, learning, trials, and sometimes failures, all of which can be navigated with extra help and support that a doula provides, ensuring you feel empowered and confident, every step of the way.

When I’m not studying, in my spare time I enjoy cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
