Hello! My name is Julie. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years. I spent many years at Magee in the NICU caring for critically ill infants. I currently work at Jefferson Hospital in the Women and Infant Center. I worked several years in the NICU at Jefferson before I became an IBCLC! I have been a Board Certified Lactation Consultant for 7 years now and I truly love it. Helping moms and babies breastfeed is my happy place.
When I’m not in the hospital assisting with breastfeeding after birth, I can be found at the office helping with the transition to breastfeeding at home. I work at Children’s Community Pediatrics in the Jefferson office with a phenomenal group of pediatric providers. I really enjoy seeing families once they are home, developing an individualized feeding plan, tracking their progress and helping them develop confidence in their ability to feed their baby! I have also spent many years facilitating a breastfeeding community support group at Jefferson Hospital where I have seen people on their best and worst days. Helping them gain confidence and succeed is empowering. Breastfeeding can be complex and overwhelming but with the right guidance and support it’s achievable. Most importantly it’s enjoyable and a journey to be proud of!
When I’m not working, I can be found at a ball field or a basketball court supporting my three sports-loving kids! I also enjoy being home with my family and my dogs too!
