Hi there! I’m Jackie, a yoga instructor and birth & postpartum doula. I’m also a Pittsburgh native (I was born at Magee!). You might know me from leading prenatal & postnatal yoga classes at the Midwife Center here in Pittsburgh, or from teaching vinyasa yoga at ASCEND Point Breeze. I completed my full-spectrum doula training with Bebo Mia, and I’m now a Certified Perinatal Doula in Pennsylvania, as well as a Medicaid-enrolled provider. I am honored to help expand access to doula care for families who might otherwise face barriers to receiving support. My background includes a degree in Race and Gender Studies, completion of a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Love PGH, and years of experience caring for children and families. Previously, I helped to run the nursery at Pittsburgh Friends Meeting and have worked in public health, where I developed a deeper understanding of the social, economic, and systemic factors that influence family well-being and health outcomes.
My approach to doula care is rooted in the belief that every family deserves to feel informed, respected, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My training in yoga has taught me the importance of breath, presence, body awareness, and trusting one’s inner wisdom. I bring these principles into my work with clients, helping them navigate both the physical and emotional aspects of their transition into parenthood. Rather than focusing on a single “right” way to birth or parent, I strive to support each family’s individual goals, values, and choices.
My Race and Gender Studies background shapes my commitment to providing inclusive, affirming care that recognizes the diverse experiences of the families I serve. I understand that pregnancy, birth, and parenting are deeply personal experiences influenced by identity, culture, community, and access to resources. I have had the privilege of supporting queer and trans clients and am dedicated to creating a welcoming space where all families feel seen, respected, and celebrated. Whether supporting a first-time parent or a growing family, I aim to offer compassionate care that nurtures both physical and mental well-being while honoring each person’s unique journey.
In my free time, I love to stay busy! Some of my pastimes include singing & writing music (I recently joined a band!), exploring coffee shops or record stores by bike, hiking in Frick Park, or meeting up with friends to climb or take a yoga class. Maybe I’ll see you around!
