Sometimes birth and death meet. Before any family says goodbye, they must first say hello. A bereavement doula will companion with an expectant family who has learned that their baby has already died or is expected to die shortly after delivery. This service is appropriate for miscarriages, stillbirths, or fatal diagnosis pregnancies.
The bereavement doula has special training and experience in educating families and helping them navigate the hard decisions presented in loss, such as autopsies, birthing methods, and funeral planning. We will come to the hospital and provide in-person support for the bereaved family for the duration of the birth. Support services include: contacting specialty photography services, formulating a birth plan, supporting other family members, and memory/keepsake making.
After experiencing a loss we are available to come into a family’s home to support them through the postpartum period by providing peer support through active listening. We will assist families in planning meaningful and appropriate funeral services, as well as educating bereaved mothers on options for their milk supply and assisting with meal prep. We will also provide appropriate resources for any needs beyond our scope.
Pricing: $300 for birth services to include (1) postpartum hospital visit.
